December

December

Advent is upon us!  We are learning about the season of Advent and the upcoming celebration of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.  December is a busy month, with many special events.  We are looking forward to participating in the following:

We are having a Christmas cake pop fundraiser. Order forms went home one November 24th and are due back on December 6th. Cake pops will be handed out on December 20th.

St. Stephen’s has set up an Angel Tree to assist St. Gerard Parish to provide Christmas gifts for children and parents of needy families.  A Christmas tree has been set up in the foyer of our school with tags of ages of people to purchase gifts for.  Families are encouraged to take a tag and purchase a gift, to be returned to the school by December 8th.

The Advent Pageant will be held Wednesday, December 13th at 6pm.   Elementary students, Junior Band and Choir will participate.  Grade 5/6 will be performing an Advent.  School Council has also arranged a Bake sale and there will be some silent auction items.  All family and friends welcome to attend.

Elementary students will be fundraising for the Food bank in December! Every time a student brings an item in, they will be entered into a class draw. On December 14, two names from each class will be drawn to participate in decorating their teacher in the elementary pep rally to take place on December 15th!

We will continue meeting in our Champion groups and focus on the Character trait of being “Honorable” this month.

On Wednesday, December 20th the whole school will be having a “Wear your Christmas Pajamas” spirit day.  Elementary students will also be participating in an afternoon of Polar Express fun.

We will celebrate together at our Advent Celebration on Thursday, December 21, at 1:30 p.m. We will focus on our District spiritual theme “Ask and it will be Given You”.

Last day of classes is Thursday December 21st. We will start the New Year on Monday, January 8th.

During the month of January, ALL St. Stephen’s elementary students from Grade 1-6 will take swimming lessons at Trico Centre. Canadian Tire Jumpstart is funding these lessons. These will occur on every Tuesday and Thursday from January 9th to January 25th.

For our next school fundraiser, we will have a donut day.  This will occur in January.

All funds go towards student programs in the school.
